Van Halteren Technologies delivered hydraulic cylinders to a Caterpillar 90-ton dipper pay- load capacity shovel. On site in a copper mine site in southern Peru, the CAT 7495 Electric Rope Shovel gets assembled, in harsh conditions.
Optimized engineering
The machine needs optimized engineering design to reduce downtime during installation. VHT ensured that the large hydraulic cylinders remained in optimal condition throughout operation. The so called HydraCrowd system uses a huge hydraulic cylinder toreduce stress on the shovel’s front-end components. As a respectable customer, Caterpillar chose VHT based on the proven track record, in-house expertise, and the advantage of having a production plant and comprehensive support available. The drive system needs low maintenance.
Experience and knowledge
The existing expertise of VHT in similar mining projects, for example in rough weather conditions in Canada, helped to build trust with the customer. It established stability as a key factor in future collaborations, where a good balance between Capital Expenditure (CapEx) and Operational Expenditure (OpEx) is crucial for both parties. Almost 70 years of experience and knowledge within VHT enabled this successful project execution.
