Maintaining and modernizing the hydraulic equipment on board.
The Fugro Synergy was originally commissioned in 2009, and technology is always changing and evolving. Surveys are required every ten years on these vessels to be able to meet DNV and GL regulations, so VHT took this opportunity to make further improvements to keep the Synergy at the forefront of drillship hydraulic technology.
Five weeks
Fugro Synergy had a docking of five weeks, which meant an opportunity to do a lot of big maintenance. Integration of new technology which has been developed in the last ten years. A focus on things like noise reduction and modernization of the software, as well as carrying out the necessary maintenance on the hydraulic systems to ensure continuous operation. A complete refurbishment of the cylinders and accumulators was done at the headquarters in Boxtel.
Built for the future
A key part of this maintenance was to ensure that the cylinders and actuators would remain reliable for the next ten years. As the cylinders are exposed to the elements, and the operational environments can be quite harsh, VHT equipped them with Enduroq 2200. This is highly durable and will keep everything running smoothly until the next service period.
