Service on two locks in the Zuid-Willemsvaart, the Netherlands.
The first major maintenance work since their commissioning almost thirty years ago. Part of the project involves installing new leveling gates for the eight lock doors as the slide drives were end-of-life.
Electromechanical solution
Rijkswaterstaat expressed the wish for an electromechanical solution with a maintenance window of once a year.
Long-lasting reliability
Thanks to the plug-and-play principle of the EMA’s, it was simply a matter of building up and switching on. Electromechanical actuators are significantly cleaner and more energy-efficient than hydraulic variants. The EMA converts electrical energy into a linear motion, using an electric motor, a gearbox, and a spindle drive.
