Internship – Matlab Tooling

  • €600
  • Boxtel
  • Engineering

This is the scope of work of the internship:

The use of simulation models is becoming ever more important in the engineering process. A model is a digital
representation of the physical world. Such a model contains electrical components such as electric motors,
hydraulic components such as hydraulic cylinders and mechanical components such as drivetrains.

Simulation models are already used in the early design stages of an engineering project with Model-Based
Design, all the way through the final testing stage of a where these models form the backbone of a Digital Twin
setup. A Digital Twin is a digital representation of the physical system. Such a DT contains, among others, the
following components:

  • A physical model of the real world system
  • Controllers which control the system
  • 3D-model of the system

Van Halteren technologies is working with Digital Twins for the development of Control Software, to gain
insight into dynamical properties of the system and to reproduce events and faults generated by the real world
system. The driving power of a Digital Twin is the physical model and the coupling with the controllers.
The physical model is generated in Matlab/Simulink and is running on dedicated hardware (Speedgoat).

Van Halteren Technologies is searching for an enthusiastic student who can contribute to the following
activities:

  • Generation and maintenance of the Matlab/Simulink library with model blocks
  • Development of Matlab scripts for generation of communication blocks
  • Improvement and validation of existing model blocks

About Van Halteren Technologies

At Van Halteren Technologies we believe that there should be a challenge in everything we do. As a leading technology supplier we design and produce a broad range of electromechanical and hydraulic products, which are supplied to both industrial clients and governments around the world.

What is an internship like at Van Halteren Technologies?

At Van Halteren, we ensure that interns receive professional support to develop themselves fully within an
open and collaborative culture. We provide challenges by assigning significant responsibilities, but you’ll never
be left to face them alone. As a family-owned company, we take care of each other and maintain a strong
connection, both professionally and personally.

What we expect from an intern

  • You are pursuing a WO (university-level) degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering.
  • You are eager to learn;
  • You take own initiative;
  • You can communicate well;
  • You master English to a professional level;
  • You have basic skills in Matlab/Simulink;

What we offer an intern

  • An internship fee of € 600 gross a month
  • Sufficient room for personal development;
  • The freedom to shape your internship as interesting as possible;
  • An internship within a family company;
  • A location close to a highway and railway station (2 minute walk).
